Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Lead Designer to join our growing Drafting & Design team in Mississauga, Ontario.
Reporting to the Chief Designer the Lead Designer will producing high quality, cost effective, detail 3D designs and general arrangement drawings. The designer will work under the supervision of the Principal Designer, Lead Discipline Design Engineer or the Project Lead Engineer.
The tasks you'll perform
- Deliver high‑quality, fit‑for‑purpose design drawings that comply with Lycopodium, project, and applicable international standards.
- Apply advanced proficiency in 3D MicroStation (OBD preferred) in accordance with Lycopodium CAD and drawing office procedures.
- Working experience with ProjectWise online file storage
- Lead the layout and detailing of materials handling and mine plant designs, demonstrating strong technical judgment.
- Ensure quality control through checking of complex drawings, correct use of standards, details, and project notes.
- Manage and supervise up to three junior drafting resources, ensuring compliance with procedures and standards.
- Coordinate and review engineering inputs, vendor drawings, and design data, and communicate effectively with the project team.
- Deliver drawings within agreed project budgets and schedules, supporting overall project delivery objectives.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, safety awareness, and commitment to continuous professional development.
The expertise you'll bring
- 15+ years relevant industry experience in mining and mineral processing
- Strong technical expertise in mineral processing plant design across multiple commodities, with a broad engineering knowledge base
- Advanced proficiency in Bentley 3D MicroStation (and other discipline‑specific proprietary design software).
- Diploma in Engineering Design Drafting (or equivalent)
- Proven ability to deliver accurate, high‑quality designs within agreed milestones, budgets, and professional standards.
- Demonstrated experience leading drafting teams and managing manhours and deliverable schedules.
- Proficient computer skills across the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a strong command of technical English.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, practical problem‑solving ability, and commitment to continuous professional development.

The expected salary range for this role is $125,000 to $165,000. This range is based on the role’s job family and level and reflects a good faith estimate for the role at the time of posting. Your final offer will depend on factors such as market conditions, internal equity and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
