Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a HSE Manager to join our team in Prince George, BC. 

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the HSE Manager will provide specialist advice to ensure the project is delivered professionally and safely in line with Company, Client and industry requirements.

The HSE Manager's role includes developing and implementing policies and practices to identify/mitigate hazardous conditions in the workplace and external environments, investigating accidents and environmental incidents, and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence, providing advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization/government standards related to health and safety and the environment.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Supporting and guiding day-to-day construction site operational objectives and ensuring policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by employees, customers, and stakeholders.
  •  Confirm all HSE initiatives of the Project team are aligned with Company, Client, regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Administer and implement HSE policies, plans and procedures to mitigate risks and safely deliver the project.
  • Ensure all dealings with Client, Vendors and other external stakeholders are professional and in line with ethos of the business. 
  • Manage all members of the HSE team in compliance with applicable legal and project specific requirements in addition to current industry work codes and standards.
  • Maximise the productivity and efficiency of the HSE team by planning, scheduling and the appropriate allocation of all resources to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Plan, develop and implement HSE related plans, process, and procedures, as required, to enable the efficient management of the Project and ensure HSE targets and reporting are met.

The expertise you'll bring

  • Technical Certificate/Tertiary Education Qualification, Degree or Diploma in Health and Safety Management (desirable) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in HSE Management in mineral processing and or related industries in international projects. Ideally site based
  • Experience in EPC/EPCM/Client/Owner is desirable
  • High attention to detail and sound knowledge of HSE policy and procedures.
  • Proficient understanding of business acumen with the ability to adapt to different business environments.
  • Excellent ability to influence stakeholders of different cultures both written and verbal
  • Ability to work with people at all levels within an organisation and external providers.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
