Lycopodium is currently recruiting for an experienced Materials Coordinator (Dar es Salaam) to join our new gold project team in Tanzania. The site roster will vary depending on the point of hire in the country.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager and with operational reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, the Materials Coordinator (Dar es Salaam) is responsible for the accurate, timely and professional delivery of project deliverables in accordance with the company, client and projects requirements.
The tasks you'll perform
- Work closely with the Construction Manager and / or Materials Coordinator Lead and the project’s Transport and Logistics (T&L) sub-contractor to effectively plan transportation activities and priorities.
- Effectively and efficiently liaise with the T&L sub-contractor to prioritise and expedite customs clearances through Tanzanian and / or other shipping ports and airports.
- Attend Dar es Salaam port with the T&L sub-contractor (if required) to help identify project containers and / or cargo.
- Assist the T&L sub-contractor to prioritise the delivery of goods and equipment to site in accordance with construction and schedule requirements being mindful to minimise truck off-loading delays and congestion on site.
- Chair and minute weekly or as-required progress and planning meetings with the T&L sub-contractor and site team.
- Review of the T&L sub-contractor invoices to ensure compliance with contracted rates and confirmation of actual work performed.
- Maintain a register of container arrivals at port, deliveries to site and return to port to manage and minimise demurrage and detention costs.
- Assist the site team with forecasting costs.
- Provide weekly or as-required reports to the site team.
- Ensure all dealings with the Client, site team and other external stakeholders are professional and in line with ethos of the business.
- Other duties as required.
The expertise you'll bring
- Demonstrable experience in logistics and materials management within the mineral processing plant or infrastructure construction industries.
- Experience with transportation of goods and materials and sound knowledge of customs clearance process, and international freight laws, regulations and practices.
- Broad multidisciplinary base knowledge in mineral processing plant / infrastructure construction.
- Ability to build and sustain positive relationships, and work with people at all levels within an organisation and external providers.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
- Strong written and verbal communication, record keeping and reporting skills.
