Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Minerals team in Brisbane. 

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering the Principal Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for proficiently managing the coordination and production of design outputs that are fit for purpose and in alignment with Project and Study requirements. 

The tasks you'll perform

  • Interdiscipline co-ordination of technical aspects of the project design.
  • Conduct timely reviews of Project mechanical drawings to achieve full compliance with design intent.
  • Approve, guide and review engineering designs, including calculations & design development.
  • Develop technical documentation including scopes of work and specifications using relevant industry standards and guidelines.
  • Liaise with and provide professional support to drafting team in the preparation of drawing deliverables.
  • Approve and assist with the delivery of accurate engineering lists including but not limited to: equipment, lubrication, spares, valves, pipe line, and special items.
  • Maximise the productivity and efficiency of the discipline by planning, scheduling and the appropriate allocation of resources to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Contribute to engineers-in-training professional development by providing consistent mentoring and identify avenues of development.
  • Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives which support business priorities for continuous improvement.

The expertise you'll bring

  •  University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 15+ years post graduate experience in mineral processing or related industries. Experience in gold, base metals or lithium will be considered favourably.
  • CP Eng and RPEQ qualifications (preferred).
  • Ability to effectively manage multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proficient understanding of business acumen with the ability to adapt to different business environments.
  •  Intuitive leader with the ability to initiate, lead and manage change in a complex environment.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of process optimisation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing high quality service to clients within budget and time constraints.
  • Willing to travel outside Australia on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations.
