Due to a high volume of upcoming projects, Lycopodium is currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Planner to join our growing Project Services team in Perth. This role will suit a self-motivated team player who is passionate about leveraging their previous experience and expertise to take their career to the next level.

Reporting to the Planning Manager the Lead Planner will be a key support to our study and/or project teams. This position will be responsible for executing and monitoring the project schedule, as well as providing up-to-date data to assist with the management of project activities to the highest quality, in line with Company, Client and regulatory requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Lead Planner within an owner's team environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and maintaining project master/control schedules.
  • Extensive experience in managing the implementation and control of contractor schedules and reporting.
  • Proven ability to assess contractor extension of time claims and identify entitlement.
  • Strong background in identifying project risks and opportunities, as well as communicating complex issues to executive management to achieve positive project outcomes.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Establish and maintain Project schedules to support all phases of the project including project definition and development, planning approvals and permitting, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, transport, construction and commissioning.
  • Read and interpret all typical design deliverables such as flow sheets, P&ID’s drawings, equipment lists and other data required to prepare and maintain a Project Schedule. 
  • Support the Project team to prepare the Project Schedules and provide up-to-date data to assist with the management of project activities to the highest quality.
  • Respond immediately to change to ensure projects are completed on time in accordance with the contractual scope of work and services. 
  • Analyse scope changes and schedule trends and recommend actions or alternate execution options to improve schedule or mitigate delays.
  • Confirm all implementation approaches and controls are reasonable in their establishment and are met throughout the project.
  • Evaluate project progress to ensure that it is meeting budgetary and deadline objectives.
  • Recognise progress concerns and report immediately to the Project Managers to ensure projects are completed within both budgetary and schedule constraints.

The expertise you'll bring

  • 10+ years planning experience in mineral processing/construction projects required.
  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent preferred, but not essential.
  • In depth knowledge of, and competence in, the use of Oracle and Primavera.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, detailed schedules and reports to meet strict project deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of Project Planning and Management.
  • Aptitude in building and sustaining positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • A self-starter who can readily adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
