Lycopodium Minerals Namibia is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Materials & Logistics Manager to join our dynamic, Project team. Reporting to the Construction Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for working with our multinational team of expert expats and motivated local staff and managing all aspects of material movement the assigned project to meet the project schedule and work with

The tasks you'll perform

  • Effectively manage the quality of output of the Materials team to ensure that it is high standard in line with Company, Client, regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Oversees the various work procedures, practices, and plans for the movement of materials and ensure that deliverables are met to a high-level of accuracy.
  • Ensure all dealings with Client, Vendors and other external stakeholders are professional and in line with ethos of the business.
  • Oversee the output of the Materials team to ensure that they are up to a high standard in line with the Company, Client, regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Manage all members of the Materials team in compliance with applicable project specific requirements and current industry work codes and standards to ensure effective delivery of contracts.
  • Liaise with Vendors and the project transport and logistics provider to effectively plan transportation and shipping activities.
  • Expedite Vendors for timely receipt of all deliverables including shipping documentation and equipment and materials adequately packed for transportation in accordance with the project specifications.

The expertise you'll bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline (required).
  • Certifications related to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management
  • Minimum of 7 years' proven experience in materials management and logistics coordination on construction or mineral processing projects, preferably in remote or developing regions (e.g. Africa).
  • Namibian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Extensive experience in materials management within mineral processing plant or infrastructure construction projects, with a proven ability to coordinate complex logistics in remote or challenging environments, particularly in Africa.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide, mentor, and collaborate with multinational teams of expatriate and local personnel to achieve performance excellence.
  • Strong understanding of international logistics, including Incoterms, customs regulations, freight forwarding, and vendor expediting to ensure compliant and timely material delivery.
  • Thorough knowledge of QA/QC procedures in material handling, storage, packaging, and transport, ensuring compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Proven capability to assess and manage logistics risks, identifying mitigation strategies to prevent schedule delays or cost overruns.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory and statutory compliance related to HSE
  • Experience managing documentation and processes, logistical paperwork to support seamless flow.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build strong working relationships with clients, vendors, logistics providers, and cross-functional teams across various cultures.
