Lycopodium is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Cost Controller to join our growing Project Services team in Perth.
Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Senior Cost Controller will be a key support to our growing pipeline of existing projects across a range of clients, commodities and geographic locations. This position will be responsible for leading and coordinating project cost control activities to ensure accurate, effective, and timely management of project costs in alignment with Client, Project, and Company standards.
The tasks you'll perform
- Deliver expert cost management insight, ensure data integrity across cost systems, and support strategic decision-making through the preparation and analysis of high-quality cost reports and forecasts.
- Provide technical expertise in the execution of Project control activities, ensuring alignment with Company and Client procedures, policies, and project requirements.
- Ensure all the budgets; forecasts and cost commitments are produced efficiently to a high standard in line with requirements.
- Support team members with re-forecasting and estimating activities to complete project cost forecasts (trending).
- Assist with the entry and administration of data into the project controls software system.
- Monitor Project performance including costs, progress against schedule and internal reviews to provide a transparent assessment of critical project performances.
- Assist Project Managers in decision making by constantly monitoring budget and expenditure changes, as well as providing regular updates of project status.
- Evaluate project progress to ensure that it is meeting budgetary and deadline objectives.
The expertise you'll bring
- 5+ years’ experience in a cost control or related role, ideally in an EPCM.
- Qualifications in a commerce or engineering discipline is preferred, but not essential.
- Advanced competencies with industry standard software including Microsoft Excel and cost control programmes (CMS & SAP proficiency will be highly regarded).
- Strong knowledge of Cost Controls principles, budgeting, forecasting, invoicing and change management.
- Well-developed communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across all business units.
- A self-starter who can readily adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
