Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Senior Procurement Officer to join our growing team in Mississauga, Ontario. 

Reporting to the Procurement and Contracts Manager the Senior Procurement Officer's goal is to provide support to the Project Services Group (PSG) or a specific project, in the areas of procurement, purchasing, expediting, cost control, and transport and logistics. 

The tasks you'll perform

  • Perform all dealings with clients, suppliers, manufacturers and freight company personnel professionally, ethically and efficiently, to ensure the highest possible service levels.
  • Communicate openly, professionally, ethically and efficiently at all times with all internal customers to ensure that the highest customer service level is achieved.
  • Responsible and accountable for all assigned purchasing and expediting functions functions carried out by Lycopodium Minerals, whether handled personally or delegated to subordinate staff members.
  • Responsible and accountable for all expediting functions as directed by the Manager of Projects and/or Procurement and Contracts Manager.
  • Responsible and accountable for all logistics functions as directed by the Manager of Projects and/or Procurement and Contracts Manager.
  • Responsible and accountable for the supervision and development of purchasing personnel to ensure optimum performance levels are maintained.
  • Ensure all purchasing processes are followed strictly in accordance with documented and authorised company procedures.
  • Accountable for maintaining the highest possible service level to all departments.
  • Responsible for all purchasing information and reporting.
  • Responsible (in collaboration with the Manager of Projects and/or Procurement and Contracts Manager) for encouraging continuous improvement through productivity monitoring, enabling identification of processes and procedures that can be modified to increase speed and efficiency within the purchasing and expediting functions, resulting in greater customer service levels.

The expertise you'll bring

  • A minimum of seven years direct and supervisory experience in the purchasing, expediting, transport and logistics disciplines in the engineering or construction industries.
  • Excellent communication skills, written, electronic and verbal.
  • A sound knowledge of international and local purchasing practices.
  • A sound knowledge of international and local tendering and contract laws regulations and practices.
  • A sound knowledge of international freight laws, regulations and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with computerised purchasing and logistics systems, and their operation and applications.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • High-level negotiating skills.
  • Initiative, self-motivation and the ability to work without supervision.
  • High degree of professional ethics.

The expected salary range for this role is $75,000 to $110,000.  This range is based on the role’s job family and level and reflects a good faith estimate for the role at the time of posting.  Your final offer will depend on factors such as market conditions, internal equity and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.  We believe in fair, competitive pay that reflects the value you bring to the team.
