Lead Mechanical Designer (Layout)

Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Designer to join our growing Design and Drafting team in Mississauga, ON. 

The tasks you'll perform

• Be proficient in all aspects of 3D MicroStation software (and preferably OBD) and to use those skills within the Lycopodium defined CAD procedures.
• Be proficient in the supervision of up to three subordinate personnel
• Be proficient in the layout and detailing of materials handling and mine plant design in their nominated discipline.
• Produce design drawings that are consistent industry standard techniques and that comply to Lycopodium drawing office and CAD procedures.
• Demonstrate an ability to work in a team environment and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be capable of producing design drawings within the project defined budget hours for the defined deliverable document.
• Demonstrate a sound understanding of fabrication and construction techniques.
• Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
• Check design drawings as required.

The expertise you'll bring

• Brings 10+ years of directly related industry experience and demonstrates high technical knowledge of mineral processing designs, technologies, and various commodities.
• Proficient in Bentley 3D MicroStation software, with strong computer skills across discipline‑specific proprietary engineering tools including Microsoft Office
• Holds an approved diploma in Engineering Design Drafting
• Consistently delivers accurate, professional designs and solutions within agreed milestone dates.
• Capable of managing drafting teams to meet budgeted man‑hours and milestone deliverables.
• Exhibits excellent English communication and report‑writing skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and a practical approach to design challenges.
• Works efficiently in team environments and is committed to ongoing professional development.

The expected salary range for this role is $125,000 to $155,000.  This range is based on the role’s job family and level and reflects a good faith estimate for the role at the time of posting.  Your final offer will depend on factors such as market conditions, internal equity and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.  We believe in fair, competitive pay that reflects the value you bring to the team.
