Lycopodium Africa is seeking a highly experienced Senior Site Contracts Administrator with a strong EPCM project background to join our dynamic, growing team in East Africa.

Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, the Senior Site Contracts Administrator is responsible for conducting all contract management activities on site to the highest quality, ethical and company standards, Client, regulatory and contractual requirements. This is a key role for someone with a proven record administering and managing complex site-based contracts.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Administer and interpret contract conditions in accordance with applicable forms.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations by all parties.
  • Manage and maintain all contractual correspondence, notices, and records.
  • Monitor and enforce contractual timelines, including notice provisions and submission requirements.
  • Evaluate and manage Extension of Time (EOT) claims, variations, and additional cost claims.
  • Ensure timely issuance and response to contractual notices.
  • Assess entitlement, causation, and quantum in accordance with contract provisions.
  • Maintain claims and variation registers and provide status reporting.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual and commercial risks.
  • Provide strategic commercial advice to the project team.
  • Proactively manage potential disputes to minimize escalation.
  • Act as the commercial liaison between Employer, Contractor, and Consultants as applicable.
  • Lead commercial and progress meetings.
  • Maintain auditable and defensible contract records.
  • Prepare regular commercial reports, including cost reports, claims logs, and risk registers.
  • Support dispute resolution processes, including adjudication and arbitration.
  • Prepare, Review and validate interim payment applications and valuations.
  • Monitor contract expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and cost exposures.
  • Support cost forecasting and final account preparation and settlement.

The expertise you’ll bring:

  • Tertiary Education Qualification, bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in contracts within minerals and or related industries. 
  • Proven experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management projects.
  • Strong record of administering and managing complex site-based construction projects, preferably in mineral processing plants or similar heavy engineering environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with standard forms of contract.
  • Extremely well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law and contract document requirements. 
  • Broad multidisciplinary base knowledge in mineral processing plant / infrastructure construction.
  • Strong background, training and awareness of statutory and industry standards in OHSE, IR and HR.
