About the Role

We are currently seeking a motivated Qualified Chef to join our team in one of our stunning facility in Cairns. You will be providing your cooking expertise and organisational skills to prepare a variety of ingredients, meals and food services. You will need to be available on a roster and have oversight of all the kitchen team to ensure the delivery of healthy, delicious and nutritious home style meals for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

· Ensure that meals are prepared to cater to individual resident dietary requirements and plated in accordance with guidelines. Knowledge of special diets and diet requirements such as allergies/intolerances, supplements and texture modified soft and purees is essential

  • Menu planning and recipe development
  • Control food costs within budget and perform stock takes and ordering
  • Supplier relationship management and contracting
  • Maintain high standards of food preparation, presentation and cooking techniques in accordance with food safety legislation
  • Adhere to cleaning schedule, documentation requirements and perform regular audits
  • Ensure that team comply with strict food safety and hygiene standards in aged care
  • Lead, manage and motivate a small team to provide outstanding customer service and quality food for our residents.

What we expect from you?

  • Previous experience in effectively managing food costs and a kitchen in an aged care or retirement living environment
  • You will have a trade qualification in commercial cooking
  • Essential that you are enthusiastic and take pride in delivering the best possible service and quality food for our residents
  • It is essential that you can work over a 7-day roster
  • Resident centered customer service is second nature
  • Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills
  • Must be flexible, reliable and self-motivated
  • A confident team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills that has a passion for providing outstanding and nutritious home cooked means for our residents
