Hospitality Training Network (HTN) is seeking an eager and dedicated Apprentice Chef to join the team at The Catering Dept.

About the position:

Our Client, The Catering Dept is more than just a food provider. They are a collective of professionals with over 20 years of industry experience from all walks of hospitality; from the kitchen, to front of house, customer service and operations, they have done it all to ensure that we are bringing their clients the best possible product.

What’s involved:

As an Apprentice Chef, you will learn alongside qualified Chefs in all aspects of food preparation and presentation. Working with us allows you to learn and build experiences from skilled professionals within a commercial kitchen environment. You will be working at one of our great host venues, working with large quantities of food and a variety of seasonal ingredients. Key activities you can expect will be:

  • Assist in food preparation - Chopping vegetables preparing sauces and measuring ingredients
  • Cooking - Following recipes and directions to prepare a variety of dishes, including meats, fish, vegetables and desserts
  • Maintaining kitchen - Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Ensuring food safety regulations and hygiene standards are maintained
  • Collaborating with kitchen staff
  • Providing excellent customer service to customers

What are we looking for?

To suit this role, you will be an eager and motivated individual with a passion for food looking to kick-start your culinary career! You will have good communication skills, seek out opportunities to learn and show initiative in your everyday duties.

In order to be eligible for an apprenticeship in NSW you must be either an:

  • Australian Citizenship
  • Australian Permanent Residency
  • New Zealand Passport Holder residing in Australia for more than six months.
