Hospitality Training Network (HTN) is seeking an eager and dedicated Apprentice Chef to join the team with (the host)!

The Collective is part of the Hunter St Hospitality Group which includes venues such as Rockpool Bar & Grill, Sake' and Spice Temple. Each venue within The Collective offers a culinary experience that’s entirely its own. The Garden menus champion local produce and relaxed dining, with a focus on light, seasonal flavours. The Dining Room includes refined, produce-led menus shaped by the seasons and grounded in timeless technique. Expect considered dishes, elegant presentation, and exceptional flavour.

What’s involved:

As an Apprentice Chef, you will learn alongside qualified Chefs in all aspects of food preparation and presentation. Working with us allows you to learn and build experiences from skilled professionals within a commercial kitchen environment. You will be working at one of our great host venues, working with large quantities of food and a variety of seasonal ingredients. Key activities you can expect will be:

  • Food Preparation - assisting with tasks like chopping vegetables, preparing sauces and measuring ingredients
  • Cooking - following recipes and directions to prepare a variety of dishes, including meats, fish, vegetables and desserts 
  • Kitchen Maintenance - cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, utensils and work surfaces
  • Food Safety - ensuring food safety regulations and hygiene standards are maintained 
  • Learning and Development - ompleting required training modules and actively seeking guidance from chefs
  • Teamwork - collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality food
  • Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service when interacting with customers

To suit this role, you will be an eager and motivated individual with a passion for food looking to kick-start your culinary career! You will have good communication skills, seek out opportunities to learn and show initiative in your everyday duties.

We are seeking someone who is self motivated & has the maturity to be able to show initiative & effort as they learn - venue is very large & kitchen is on display to customers so someone who has a maturity to be able to work in that environment.

In order to be eligible for an apprenticeship in NSW you must be either an:

  • Australian Citizenship
  • Australian Permanent Residency
  • New Zealand Passport Holder residing in Australia for more than six months.
