- Learn a trade outdoors with structured training and real mentoring
- Be part of a supportive crew caring for local green spaces
- Clear pathways from apprentice to qualified horticulturalist
If you like working outdoors, take pride in seeing the results of your effort, and want a career where your work actually matters to the community, this could be the start you’re looking for.
This apprenticeship is for someone who wants more than just a job. It’s for someone who wants to learn a trade, build skills that last, and contribute to green spaces that people use every day. You’ll work alongside experienced horticulture professionals who are invested in teaching you properly, not just keeping you busy.
At Green by Nature, apprentices aren’t an afterthought. You’re part of the team from day one, learning hands-on, supported to grow, and encouraged to take pride in your work as your skills develop.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll learn the fundamentals of horticulture while working on well-maintained public spaces in The Ponds area. Day to day, this includes:
• Learning how to care for lawns, gardens, trees, and landscaped areas
• Assisting with planting, pruning, mulching, and general garden upkeep
• Using tools and equipment safely and correctly with full training provided
• Working alongside qualified team members who guide and support you
• Building skills in irrigation basics, soil health, and plant care
• Keeping sites clean, safe, and welcoming for the community
• Developing good work habits, reliability, and pride in workmanship
No two days are the same, and you’ll steadily take on more responsibility as your confidence and skills grow.
What you bring
We’re focused on potential, not perfection. You don’t need experience in horticulture to apply.
What matters most is:
• A genuine interest in working outdoors and learning a trade
• A willingness to listen, learn, and give things a go
• Reliability and a positive attitude toward teamwork
• Basic fitness for outdoor, hands-on work
• A current driver’s licence or willingness to obtain one
This role is open to school leavers, mature-age apprentices, career changers, and women entering the trade. If you’re motivated and curious, we want to hear from you.
