Grand Hotel, Thursday Island is looking for a Chef to join our team! Our waterfront location is the perfect spot for both locals and tourists to sit back, relax and take in the pristine views.

Situated on the foreshore of Thursday Island, enjoy magnificent views of the Endeavour Strait, Horn Island and Prince of Wales Island, with the Cape York Peninsula in the distance.

As a Cook / Chef, your day to day duties will include assisting the Head Chef and Sous Chef with:

  • Preparing and cooking food
  • Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding garnishes and sauces
  • Ensuring all meals are of high quality and are prepared in a timely manner
  • Utilising a variety of fresh, frozen and prepared ingredients to prepare, cook and present a range of dishes according to a seasonal menu
  • Practicing effective stock rotation and wastage minimisation procedures
  • Assisting our team in maintaining an efficient and proactive kitchen operation 
  • Assisting with menu changes when required
