The Role
The Compliance & Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring El Questro operates safely, responsibly, and in accordance with environmental, legislative, and cultural obligations. Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with Operations, Maintenance, HR, and Wilinggin Aboriginal Corporation, the role oversees safety systems, environmental compliance, risk mitigation, incident reporting, and continuous improvement across our multi-site operation. You’ll be the on-ground subject matter expert building strong safety culture, maintaining compliance frameworks, and supporting leaders with training, audits and reporting.
Duties
- Maintain safety, risk and environmental compliance systems across all precincts
- Lead incident investigations, reporting and corrective actions
- Conduct site audits, inspections and emergency response planning
- Deliver staff safety inductions and ongoing training
- Support ILUA and heritage compliance obligations with key partners
Skills & Experience
- Experience in WHS, environmental compliance or similar field
- Strong knowledge of safety systems, audits and incident management
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence safe behaviours
- Excellent stakeholder management – internal & external
- Able to work in a remote, fast-paced, multi-discipline environment

This role includes extensive manual handling tasks including lifting up to 20kg kneeling and squatting, as well as handling chemicals and utilising machinery
