Research Scientist

Job Description

We are seeking a driven individual with a passion for the produce industry. One of our clients is looking to add a strong Research Scientist to their team. Responsibilities include:

1) Arrange hybridity and identity fingerprinting analysis by DNA marker to evaluate genetic purity of commercial, stock and foundation seeds

2) Investigate cause of genetic impurity and evaluated seeds purity of related production

3) Inform colleagues of investigation results and take correction and prevention actions

4) Coordinate DNA marker genotyping and datapoint allocation to support the global breeding programs

5) Plan and organize DNA marker assays, including purchase of laboratory supplies and reports and monitor of genotyping expenses to stakeholders

6) Develop strategy to improve current DNA markers and plans and develops new ones, for marker-assisted selection internally or with support of third-party companies

7) Interact with external biotech companies related to outsource DNA marker genotyping and projects

8) Keep abreast of new biotechnologies and participate in external collaborations

9) Contribute to strategy development specifically on DNA marker lab expansion, development of DNA markers, and improvement of testing capacity

10) Train and supervise research support personnel

11) Support other R&D and QA duties, as needed

Critical Requirements

1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field

2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)

3) Recent experience in the produce industry is strongly preferred

4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in research and development
