The Role

As part of the expansion of our Data Science capability, we are looking to extend the capability within the Data Science and Insights team. You will use your skills to provide the business with greater insight into customer behaviour and experience and help inform future strategic decision making. You will have a passion for discovering solutions and insights and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.

You will be responsible for creating and delivering data-driven value across the G’day Group. Data will be at the core of discovering insights, predicting behaviour and visualising results and patterns observed through the application of statistical and machine learning techniques.

The Data Scientist will apply the latest data science techniques within the context of our customers and business, to improve customer experience and drive returns.

This role will require you to;

·      Provide technical expertise across a wide range of Data Science/Analytics topics and techniques

·      Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify business problems and work with them to provide meaningful, actionable insights

·      Use software such as SQL, R, Python etc. to access, transform, integrate, and analyse data from various data sources

·      Use advanced statistical techniques (machine learning algorithms, predictive models, clustering techniques, etc.) to answer complex business questions

·      Translate analysis into a digestible format for business stakeholders that clearly articulate the business value associated with using these insights

·      Engage with the business to understand key trends and challenges, and develop suitable models which to inform decision-making and investment

·      Identify and source internal and external data sets to build predictive models that generate insight and create business value

·      Contribute to the ongoing communication of progress for projects and key findings within the organisation

Your Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science) along with working knowledge of data science, analytics, or data engineering is essential to the success of this role. To be successful in this role you will have proficiency and experience in machine learning, behavioural analytics or visualisation combined with a high level of proficiency with programming languages used in data science, such as SQL, R and Python. A professional commitment and skills of maintaining code quality is critical. 

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills which will be utilised when working across cross function teams and external stakeholders. You will be naturally curious and possess a high level of energy, self-motivation, autonomy, initiative, flexibility and attention to detail to be successful in meeting the business demands at G’day Group. Your naturally upbeat and open style will fit our cultural values. You will have a highly organised mindset with the ability to assess the urgency of work allocated to you by various stakeholders.
