Coolwaters, Yeppoon Discovery Park

Located in beautiful Yeppoon on Queensland’s Capricorn Coast, Coolwaters Discovery Parks offers a relaxed coastal setting surrounded by beaches, islands and natural attractions. The park provides a diverse range of accommodation, group facilities, catering and recreational amenities, making it an ideal destination for families, school groups and holidaymakers.

The Role

As the General Manager, you will take the reins of a diverse accommodation and group tourism operation, with responsibility for delivering operational excellence, exceptional guest experiences and sustainable commercial performance.

You’ll lead an experienced team and oversee the day-to-day operation of the park, including its school group and catering facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing the park team to deliver consistently high standards across accommodation, guest services and facilities.
  • Overseeing the operation of the on-site catering facility, café and large group function space, which caters for school groups and events
  • Reviewing the P&L and key financial percentages to ensure food and labour costs are controlled and the operation is performing efficiently.
  • Providing leadership and direction to the Events Coordinator, Chef and kitchen team, ensuring clear accountability, budgets and KPIs.
  • Ensuring strong WHS, food safety and compliance practices across the catering and kitchen operations.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across the park and group operations.
  • Building a positive, accountable and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Representing Coolwaters Discovery Parks and the G’Day Group within the local tourism and business community.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on hospitality and tourism leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and understands what it takes to operate a successful accommodation business with group catering facilities.

You will be commercially focused, customer-centric, resilient and passionate about developing people.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager or senior leader within a resort, hotel, holiday park, tourism or hospitality operation.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing P&L, budgets, food costs, wages, purchasing and operational expenses.
  • Drivers License essential
  • RMS experience preferable
  • A strong understanding of WHS, food safety and compliance requirements.
  • Relevant qualifications in hospitality or business management, including Food Safety and RSA certifications where applicable.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to develop teams and set out clear KPIs and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with school groups, staff, suppliers and community stakeholders.
  • A genuine passion for tourism, guest experience and regional Queensland.

This role includes extensive manual handling tasks, including lifting up to 20kg, kneeling and squatting, as well as handling chemicals and utilising machinery where required.
