The Role
Our software engineering teams have built some of Australia’s most popular websites and apps, with millions of unique visitors each year to our digital platforms, including WikiCamps, the number one Paid App in the App Store Australia. The G'day Group is undergoing a significant period of growth and is investing in technology and business processes to ensure we can provide market leading digital experiences for our customers.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and passionate software Engineering Manager to lead a team delivering premier customer experiences, harnessing the latest technologies. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
Your role responsibilities will include:
1. Team Leadership
· Lead, mentor, and motivate a software engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and innovation
· Set clear expectations, provide ongoing feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and identify opportunities for professional growth and development
· Assist with team design and participate in the recruitment and growth of the team
2. Software Development Management
· Work closely with stakeholders, product managers, and cross-functional teams to understand software requirements, define project scope, and prioritize deliverables
· Plan, coordinate, and allocate resources effectively to ensure the timely and successful completion of projects
· Provide technical guidance and support to the team, helping them overcome challenges, make technical decisions, and maintain high coding standards
· Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and proactively address blockers / issues to ensure project milestones are met
3. Technical Excellence
· Oversee the design and development of efficient, reliable, and user-friendly mobile applications
· Ensure the performance, stability, and security of the applications, overseeing thorough quality assurance, testing and debugging methods
· Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in software engineering
· Encourage code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices to ensure high-quality software deliverables
· Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to design scalable and maintainable software solutions
· Collaborate with UI/UX designers to deliver high-quality and exceptional user experience
Your Experience
A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or relevant field, combined with proven experience in leading and managing software engineering teams, with a track record of delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
You will have a solid understanding of mobile application development principles, including responsive UI/UX design, performance optimisation and testing. You will have worked with RESTful APIs, asynchronous programming, and state management techniques. You will be proficient in version control systems, such as Git and agile methodologies.
You will have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will possess a high level of energy, self-motivation, autonomy, initiative, and attention to detail to be successful in meeting the business demands at G’day Group. Your naturally upbeat and open style will fit our cultural values. You will have a highly organised mindset with the ability to assess the urgency of work allocated to you by various stakeholders.
