Discovery Holiday Parks is undergoing a significant period of growth and is undertaking a historic transformation to build the Park and Digital Experience of the future. Accordingly, significant investment is being made into technology and business processes to ensure we can provide market leading experiences to our customers in both the physical and digital realm. The Role

The Solution Architect is responsible for designing technology solutions based on business, functional and non-functional requirements. The role has an emphasis on ensuring proposed solutions are holistic, scalable, cost-effective, secure and fit-for-purpose.

The role bridges the gap between business problems and technology solutions focusing on how to address the broader business and technical needs of Discovery Parks. The role is responsible for presenting and delivering architecture documentation covering business, applications, integrations, data and cloud domains and providing advice and guidance that will be critical in the future state design and roadmap of our technology assets.

You will work within an agile squad environment within teams that include project managers, business analysts and software development lead as well as an offshore team of engineers delivering the solution. Whilst technical proficiency is important to the role, you will also have the attitude, soft skills and leadership capability to engage with a broad range of business and technology stakeholders.

Responsibilities will include:

·      Lead product/platform selection processes, contribute to business cases, research and design digital solution options including costs, and prepare current and future state architecture mappings.

·      Be a trusted advisor to business stakeholders understanding their needs and collaborating with them to envision and design technology solutions.

·      Analyse, design and develop Solution Architecture documents and artifacts designed to solve both strategic and tactical problems

·      Collaborate with the project team to produce a roadmap of epics, features, stories and effort estimations that are in alignment with the future state architecture plans, defining release increments and transition architectures.

·      Contribute to pre-project high-level project plans, scoping / design, tasks, estimations and costs.

·      Review user stories, epics, business requirements and functional specifications from a technical feasibility perspective offering technical advice on solutions

·      Collaborate with Development Leads in detailed design workshops and reviews.

·      Work with the Head of Software Engineering to drive new solution and technology architecture, architecture patterns and practices.

·      Perform (as well as facilitate involvement of others e.g., cybersecurity team) architecture/implementation reviews and document any departures / technical debt and plan & sequence any remediation

Your Experience

To be successful in this role you will have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and experience working as a Solution Architect in an agile and cloud environment. To be successful in the role, you will have experience working with business leaders to understand capability requirements, and articulate a solution and a plan (MVP, transition architectures) for building out the capability incrementally.

Ideally you will have experience around application integration with a number of core systems such as web and mobile application development, CRM, Marketing automation, Booking, Property management systems, billing and other platforms in a real-time environment and experience in the marketing domain. You will bring experience designing solutions with an API first architecture.

Desired skills and experience include –

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in the role of a solution architect producing solution design documentation and facilitating design discussions
  • Experience in an agile delivery/development environment
  • Working knowledge of fundamental Computer Science concepts and algorithms
  • Working knowledge of fundamental integration patterns, API development patterns and layered App design patterns
  • Experience designing solutions based on open API’s and middleware
  • Experience with the Azure ecosystem: App Services, Azure Functions, Web Jobs, Azure Search, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Hub, elastic services
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement or similar CRM platforms such as Salesforce
