Bayside Health is a public health service delivering high-quality care across every stage of life for close to 1.2 million people living in metropolitan Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, Koo Wee Rup, Bass Coast and Southern Gippsland. We have more than 15 main sites, including hospitals, centres and clinics that provide comprehensive care from welcoming newborns to supporting older people and a full range of services in between. Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical officers for a 12-month appointment in 2027 as a Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Fellow. (0.6 FTE)
The Neuromuscular role includes 5 EMG sessions per week, weekly Neuromuscular Clinic (Caulfield hospital) and every other week at the Sandighram Neuromuscular Clinic. The role also involves reporting of Evoked potentials including intraoperative spinal monitoring service (IOM) at the Alfred Hospital.
TIn addition to this participation in weekly didactic Neurophysiology Teaching, monthly Neuropathology sessions and assessment of Neuromuscular ward consults in conjunction with the Consultant is also expected. We encourage active involvement in research and there are opportunities for higher research degrees beyond the fellowship year.
The Neuromuscular unit is also involved in a number of early phase Clinical trials and active involvement in recruitment, assesment and follow up of these trial patients is encouraged.
