The Department
Ward AC1
Ward AC1 is a 30-bed unit comprised of 30-bed Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) service, focused on subacute rehabilitation for older adults following acute hospitalisation
Patients on Ward AC1 often present with complex medical, functional, cognitive, and psychosocial needs. The unit provides a supportive and collaborative care environment, where staff work closely within a multidisciplinary team to develop and deliver personalised care plans aimed at maximising recovery and quality of life.
The Role
The Ward Clerk is responsible for the coordination of communication, patient services and clerical functions as directed by the Nurse Manager of designated ward or department. The Ward Clerk's responsibilities include:
- Filing and clerical duties
- Update and manning board or patient lists in the ward clerk’s office/desk
- Communicate patient discharge, transfer and condition information to the Enquiry Office and Admitting Officer (via computer terminal or telephone)
- Maintain supply of patient identification labels
- Maintain ward stationery supplies
- Arrange collection of X-rays and Medical Equipment as required
- Organise the collection and delivery of equipment
- Organise maintenance request (“job dockets”)
- Update the indexes of Hospital Policy Manuals and directives
- General typing duties
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong communication skills
- Clerical experience
- Typing and computer skills
