The Digital Health Division is responsible for enabling clinical staff to deliver timely, quality care to our patients and carers through innovative use of information technologies, and through strategic management of information and data across the organisation.

The Digital Health division encompasses all aspects of:

About the role

This position provides dedicated technical support across pathology applications, systems, and supported infrastructure, ensuring laboratory and clinical workflows are reliable, safe, and well-integrated. The MDI and Application Specialist is responsible for configuring and supporting Oracle Health’s Cerner Millennium PathNet and associated interfaces, including Medical Device Interfaces (MDI), Foreign System Interfaces (FSI), and HL7 connectivity to connected systems. A key focus is maintaining and improving interoperability and data exchange between diagnostic instruments, middleware platforms, point-of-care testing devices, and downstream applications, as well as supporting other enabling software and databases. As part of an integrated EMR, this position may work in crossfunctional teams to support the delivery of solutions across broader portfolios.

The role takes a proactive approach in understanding how systems behave in real operational conditions. This includes identifying dependencies and potential risks to strengthen stability and support successful implementation of changes. This position also contributes hands-on technical capability across configuration, troubleshooting and support for pathology instruments and other equipment to minimise downtime and ensure consistent performance across laboratories

This role may be required to work on-site at any of the main and branch site laboratories and collection centres distributed across multiple health services and geographic locations, including, but not limited to, Bayside Health, Western Health, Monash Health, and other health services that Bayside Health provide service for.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting pathology medical device interfaces and middleware platforms
  • Strong understanding of Oracle Health’s Cerner Millenium PathNet and/or Clinical Information System and associated management tools
  • Demonstrated experience in translating laboratory or clinical processes into design or functionality to meet business requirements.
  • Understanding of pathology laboratory environments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Certification in Oracle Health’s Cerner Millennium applications
  • Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA) or equivalent
  • Experience working in an ITIL-based support environment with a focus on continuous improvement
