The Department
Alfred Health Support Services provides non-clinical support services across Alfred Health, these services include cleaning services, car parking and fleet management, waste management, gardens and grounds, distribution, security and access control, ward support, linen services, ancillary services, food services and hospitality.
The Role
The Food Services Supervisor will operate as part of the Food Services team and support the Food Services Manager in delivering and maintaining a safe food service and a clean, hygienic kitchen environment. This role includes leading, coordinating, and delegating tasks to staff, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with industry best practice and meets or exceeds required standards.
The Food Services Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and operational oversight of a large and diverse team, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing work environment. This includes supporting staff performance, promoting accountability, managing workflow priorities, and ensuring service delivery objectives are achieved.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Demonstrated experience in a food services, hospitality, healthcare, or commercial kitchen environment, including experience coordinating or supervising staff.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, food hygiene, and infection prevention requirements, including the Food Act 1984, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) standards, and food safety principles.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and support a diverse team, including delegating tasks, monitoring performance, and fostering a positive team culture.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads, coordinate service delivery, and respond effectively to changing operational demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with patients, staff, managers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, cleaning standards, and organisational policies and procedures.
Desirable:
- Food Safety Supervisor certification or equivalent food safety qualification.
- Experience working in a healthcare, aged care, or hospital food services environment.
