  • 2 x vacancies Fixed term to July 2027:
  • Full-time (1EFT/80 hours per fortnight) with monthly ADO; AND
  • Part-time (0.6EFT / 48 hours per fortnight
  • Registered Psychiatric Nurse / Social Worker / Occupational Therapist Grade 4, or Psychologist Grade 3

The Department

headspace Early Psychosis is one of the world’s most innovative and comprehensive youth early psychosis programs, being delivered through one program in each Australian state. Through this initiative, young people and their families have timely access to comprehensive evidence-based early psychosis services. This program aims to intervene early with young people who have unusual sensory experiences and/or beliefs and their families and support networks. The service builds on strengths and resilience, uses the wisdom of lived experience and fosters hope, potential, and recovery.

The Roles

Senior Access/CCT Clinician (full-time) - You will work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment, consisting of allied health and nursing staff, psychiatrists and registrars, peer and carer support workers and other youth service specialists to communicate and coordinate client care. You will provide case management and therapeutic support to clients and families of headspace Early Psychosis, providing high quality customer service that is engaging, flexible and responsive to the needs of young people and their families.

You will also be part of a team of Access clinicians who are the first point of contact with the service and provide the initial screening response to those making contact with primary headspace and headspace Early Psychosis. Referrers are assisted to find the right service where other options are more appropriate. Streamlined entry to headspace Early Psychosis services will be supported by timely decision-making and case allocation.

Senior CCT Clinician (part-time) - You will work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment, consisting of allied health and nursing staff, psychiatrists and registrars, peer and carer support workers and other youth service specialists to communicate and coordinate client care. This will involve providing support to the Access clinicians from time to time by performing Access duties to cover staff absence or during periods of peak demand.

Both positions require experience in the diagnosis and provision of assessment and interventions with young people with psychosis/ alcohol and other drug issues and their families. The successful applicants will participate in service innovation, development and evaluation activities.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Approved tertiary qualifications and eligibility for membership with AHPRA or the relevant professional registering body:

Registered Psychiatric Nurse

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • An approved postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board via AHPRA

 Occupational Therapist

  •  Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board via AHPRA to practice with the National Board.

Psychologist

  • Registration as a psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009).
  • Registration to practice as a supervisor with AHPRA

Social Worker

  •  Approved degree in Social Work
  •  Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Worker

Additional requirements

  • Current Victorian Driver's License
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Appropriate work visa
  • Be willing to undergo a background check
  • Current Influenza vaccination
