POSITION:  Research Assistant - Neurology Clinical Trials

  • Fixed Term, 12 months
  • Part Time – 24 hours week
  • Classification Title: Medical Scientist Grade 1
  • Department/Unit: Clinical Research Unit, Neurology

The Department

Neurology is a developing specialty within Alfred Health, and recent investment has produced significant growth in this area, particularly with regard to research and clinical trials. Neurology at Alfred Health consists of inpatient units and a range of specialised outpatient clinics.

The Role

The Research Assistant will work within the Alfred Neurosciences Department and also across in the Central Clinical School (CCS), Monash University located in the Monash Laboratory Building. She/he will undertake study coordinator on investigator research and also some laboratory research aimed at increasing our understanding of Neurological diseases and options for better and more effective treatments.

 

Qualifications and Experience Required

The appointee will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field, or
  • Substantial relevant skills and work experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Sound analytical and problemsolving skills, including the ability to practically apply theoretical principles and techniques to solve problems
  • Highlevel communication skills, including the ability to draft a range of documentation, interact with a diversity of colleagues and clients and maintain discretion
  • Demonstrated highlevel organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities, manage time, plan work to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • A high level of computer literacy, including demonstrated experience in learning and adopting new software packages as required
  • A demonstrated understanding of confidentiality, privacy and information handling principles
