About us
Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.
The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.
LIVED EXPERIENCE WORKFORCE
The Lived Experience Workforce within AMAH is a growing and thriving workforce of designated lived experience roles. These roles include but are not limited to: Directors of Lived/Living Experience, Peer/Carer Program Coordinator, Senior Peer/Carer Support Workers, Consumer Consultants, Carer Consultants, Discovery College Leads and Educators, Peer/Carer Practice Leads and Peer/Carer Support Workers. We work across the Hospital and Emergency, Adult and Older Adult, headspace and Infant, Child & Youth, and Statewide Services including the Women’s Mental Health Service and the Residential Eating Disorders Service.
What you’ll be doing
Using your lived experience of mental distress and recovery, you will provide psychosocial support and non-crisis interventions to consumers in the Emergency and Consultation Liaison services. You will be supported with line management and peer supervision in this role.
Shifts will be allocated on a roster system, and as such you may be required to work weekends.
About you
- Personal experience of having a significant mental health challenge and the ability to use own experience to inspire hope and belief in recovery.
- Formal qualifications are not mandatory for this role but may be helpful (Certificate IV in Peer Work, Cert IV in Mental Health, Intentional Peer Support training).
- Experience of the public or private mental health system is highly regarded.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a designated lived experience role
- Australian working rights
- Current Influenza vaccination
- Current Victorian Driver's License and be willing to undergo a Background Check
- Satisfactory Working with Children Check
