Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

About the Department

About the Team
The Pharmaceutical Management team is responsible for the procurement, distribution and governance of medicine supply across Alfred Health. This is managed through a unique, proactive and co-ordinated approach; utilising close working relationships with external suppliers (Symbion, Baxter) to deliver medications to both Pharmacy and Pharmacy related medication imprest areas across the organisation.
Adoption and expansion of technology is a key component, embracing the use of new digital functionality and the evaluation of data within medication related systems to allow for targeted, efficient responses to medication supply processes. The team works closely with our Digital Health, Medication Safety and Formulary programs to ensure continued availability of the most up to date treatments in a cost-effective manner. This is a continually evolving portfolio that looks to innovative approaches in improving and refining how its service can be provided, while assisting to deliver on department and organisation wide strategic goals.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced technician or purchasing officer to join the Pharmaceutical Management team as Senior Pharmacy Procurement Officer. In this role, you will support the Pharmacy Procurement Manager and broader Pharmaceutical Management team and play a critical role in coordinating the purchasing and receiving of pharmaceutical products and general supplies across Alfred Health. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be challenged in a variety of different forms, from problem solving utilising near real-time purchasing data to being a key Procurement contact in communications with the broader Pharmacy department and external departments regarding purchasing related tasks. Being a strong communicator, having a process-driven approach and the ability to identify and address current service gaps will be crucial skill sets to help the Pharmacy Procurement service to continue to evolve moving forward.

Qualifications/Experience Required
- Experience in managing pharmaceutical products with a sound knowledge of purchasing, supply techniques and inventory control is desirable
- Tertiary qualification is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills essential
- Knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations is an advantage.
