On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department
The Alfred Cancer Program is responsible for the overall delivery of a comprehensive cancer service which involves a number of clinical areas and units including; Medical Oncology, Clinical Haematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Apheresis, State-wide Haemophilia Service, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care and the Victorian Melanoma Service. Alfred Health delivers a comprehensive suite of services which involves a range of diagnostic services, surgical, radiation and oncology therapies. This now includes the Integrative Oncology Unit and Wellness Centre, established in 2024 to provide evidence-based supportive care for cancer patients.

This position is available to commence now and is based in an outpatient setting in the world-class Wellness Centre at the Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre.

Your Role
We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, and highly organised Administration Officer to join our dynamic team. This role is central to ensuring the smooth operation of the Wellness Centre and providing administrative support to the Integrative Oncology healthcare team. As this is a patient-facing role, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, a warm and professional manner, and a strong commitment to creating a positive experience for patients and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Wellness Centre, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment
- Provide information about available health and wellbeing programs to patients attending the Wellness Centre. (in person, via email and by phone)
- Provide general administrative support including managing supplies and consumables
- Schedule and manage bookings for Mind-Body Program classes and Education group sessions.
- Schedule individual clinical appointments and provide support to the Integrative Oncology staff including nursing, allied health staff and complementary practitioners
- Provide IT administrative support to the Integrative Oncology team, including managing patient appointments, handling all modes of patient correspondence
- Assist with the preparation of meeting minutes, reports, presentations, and other documentation as required
- Support the organisation of meetings and events, including materials and logistics
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient information in compliance with hospital policies
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Qualifications: Vocational or tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Health Administration, or a related field is preferred
- Experience: Experience working in a healthcare, medical reception or wellness setting
- Skills: Excellent organisational and multitasking skills with strong attention to detail
- Digital Proficiency: Comfortable using CANVA and other digital platforms, including social media, to help promote unit activities and outcomes
- Software Knowledge: High level of proficiency in IT applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a compassionate and professional approach
- Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Personal qualities: Positive attitude, empathy and a genuine commitment to helping others
