The Department

Ward 4 East at Alfred Hospital is a dynamic acute care ward within the Acute and Integrated Care stream of the Home, Acute and Community program. It provides multidisciplinary care for adults with acute and complex medical conditions, supporting diagnosis, treatment, discharge planning, and community integration through strong links to subacute and ambulatory services.

The Role

The Nurse Manager is a professional and clinical leader in Nursing Services and plays a pivotal role in meeting broader organisational imperatives. The Nurse Manager operationalises the core values of Nursing at Alfred Health by ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff. The role is accountable for developing staff to deliver excellence in clinical practice, and is responsible for managing clinical risk and implementing systems and processes to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
  • Masters level qualification or working towards i.e. completion of units to grad cert level.
  • Recent extensive clinical nursing experience.
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check.
  • Current and satisfactory Working with Children Check according to clinical area.

Desirable  

  • Understanding of chronic and complex disease.
  • Experience with delivering quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience leading teams through change.
