About the Team

The Vascular Laboratory provides non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound services to both inpatients and outpatients of the Alfred Hospital. The department provides services to a number of clinical units throughout the hospital and forms part of the Vascular Surgery Department. The department is staffed by qualified vascular sonographers.

About the Role

The role of the Vascular sonographer is to perform and interpret non-invasive vascular investigations, within the laboratory or in the laboratory or in other areas of the hospital.

This position is expected to participate in the supervision of trainee and student Sonographers, providing support and guidance in accordance with the vascular lab clinical protocols.

All vascular sonographers are responsible for managing their own workload of patients.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Full accreditation with the Australasian Sonographers Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
  • Diploma in medical ultrasound (vascular) or equivalent vascular specific post graduate qualification
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Teams 

Desirable

  • Working towards a masters or further post graduate qualification in vascular ultrasound
