About us

Alfred Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS) is friendly to infants, children, young people and their families/carers.  

We provide accessible mental health services inclusive of family, friends and support networks.  

We are a specialist, multi-disciplinary and intensive care mental health service incorporating the lived and living experience of youth peer workers and family peer specialists.  

Our service is divided into two streams 0-11 and 12-26 years, and includes specialist services in the areas of perinatal care, neurodevelopmental presentations, eating disorders and outreach support.

What you'll be doing

The Youth Lived Experience – Capacity Building Lead will be part of a supportive interdisciplinary team, reporting to the Manager, Youth Program. This exciting new position has been established to support the continued development and leadership of the youth lived & living experience program within the Infant, Child & Youth Area Mental Health Service within AMAH.

AMAH has a growing lived/living experience peer workforce. This position has been created to support the youth workforce and is responsible for leading and building the capacity of the youth peer workers, working closely with the Manager, Youth Program and the Consumer Peer Program Coordinator. 

This position will play a key role in ensuring that the youth Lived Experience mental health workforce maintains a recovery-orientated focus and is supported.

About you

  • 1 year experience working in a designated Lived Experience leadership role  
  • Lived Experience of mental health challenges  
  • Formal qualifications are not mandatory for this role but may be helpful
  • Experience in providing supervision or workplace support to consumer Lived Experience workforce, and experience delivering education/or co-facilitating groups is desirable

You'll also have to complete/provide a valid Victorian Working with Children Check, be willing to undergo a background check, and you'll require Australian working rights.
