The Department

3 West is a 36 bed Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery ward located at The Alfred Hospital. Our dynamic unit provides complex care to patients requiring a broad range of medical, interventional and surgical cardiac services. 3 West also provides specialist cardiac monitoring services for patients under the care of other medical and surgical specialty units.  Our team works in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to facilitate timely delivery of quality care to both our elective and emergency, acute and chronic illness cohort of patients across the 3rd floor. 

Our teams have a strong vision for patient centered care, leading the way in quality improvements to provide exceptional care for our patients.

The Role

The Ward Clerk is responsible for the coordination of communication, patient services and clerical functions as directed by the Nurse Manager and Associate Nurse Manager team on 3 West. The Ward Clerk plays an essential role in supporting the smooth operation of the ward in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, liaising with patients and carers to support positive patient experiences on 3 West. 

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and capable applicant to join our friendly and dynamic team.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • Excellent communication and highly developed customer service skills 
  • Strong administrative experience (healthcare experience and knowledge of medical terminology required) 
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills 
  • Knowledge of IT systems 
  • Ability to work confidently and adaptably in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with meticulous attention to detail
