The Department

Respiratory Medicine at The Alfred provides specialist consultative services throughout the breadth of respiratory medicine and allergic diseases and includes four clinical Services, Lung Transplantation, Cystic Fibrosis, General Respiratory & Sleep Medicine and Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology.  These services are supported by our Physiology Service and Sleep Laboratory.

Position Summary

The Occupational Respiratory Clinic requires a Clinic Nurse whose key responsibility is to co-ordinate and undertake preliminary clinical assessments of patients attending the outpatient Alfred Occupational Respiratory Clinic (AORC). The service has two dedicated outpatient clinics per week – Mondays and Thursdays. The AORC provides screening for 300 silica exposed stone benchtop industry workers per year, and diagnosis and management of a range of occupational respiratory conditions, including silicosis. The multi-disciplinary clinic is attended by respiratory physicians and an occupational physician.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Registered Nurse (Division 1) with current practising certificate
  • Demonstrates the appropriate competencies and skills as per the Clinical Nurse Specialist criteria
  • Experience in Respiratory Medicine and research desirable
