The Department
The specialty medicine unit is a 20-bed ward specialising in renal, endocrinology and rheumatology care. The ward is also home to a 7-bed acute haemodialysis unit. The ward cares for patients with acute and chronic disease.
Position Summary
- Responsible for the coordination of communication, patient services and clerical functions as directed by the Nurse Manager of designated ward or department.
- Word Processing (as applicable)
- Facilitate communication within the ward
- Arrange and coordinate patient services
- Clerical Duties
- Promote and maintain good customer relations with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel.
- If necessary to be away from desk area, ensure the registered nurse in charge of the ward is notified.
- Be aware of role during emergency procedures.
- Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times

Experience and Qualifications Required
Essential:
- Outstanding keyboard skills and proficiency with MS office
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with staff, patients and their families
- Demonstrated time management and prioritizations skills
