The Department
The Alfred ICU is an international leader in critical care research and education, with many major journal publications and projects spanning most areas of critical care medicine. Areas of research include traumatic brain injury, acute lung injury and ARDS, ECMO, blood transfusion and nutrition in the critically ill. The research unit works in close collaboration with the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC RC) at the Monash Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, and the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society Clinical Trials Group (ANZICS CTG).
Although largely comprising academic, investigator led research, the research program is augmented by a small number of pharmaceutical industry studies.
The Role
In your role as the Manager of ICU Research you will lead a range of research projects alongside the ICU Deputy Director of Research. You will be leading a group of experienced researchers who share knowledge and assist each other in their project recruitment and management.
The ICU Research Manager oversees the day to day operations of the department, has oversight of staff rosters and resourcing, completes ethics and governance applications or amendments, maintains budgetary oversight and contributes to the implementation of research projects and data collection within the ICU.
Experience and Qualifications Required
Essential
- Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
- Previous experience as a research nurse, with a sound understanding of Ethics, Governance and Regulatory requirements
- Current and satisfactory Police Check
- Current and satisfactory Working with Children Check
- Prior experience in a leadership role
Desirable
- Relevant post graduate qualification (e.g. MPH) or significant progress towards this
- Certificate in Good Clinical Practice
- Clinical experience in an acute care setting (e.g. ICU, ED, or Anaesthesia)
