The Department

Alfred Health Radiation Oncology (AHRO) is a unit of a comprehensive cancer service, with sites located at The Alfred - Melbourne (ARO) and Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO) at Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) - Traralgon. The service provides the full range of general radiation oncology and radiation therapy services in addition to some specialised services with both state and national significance.

The Role

Alfred Health's Graduate Radiation Therapist program is aimed at newly qualified radiation therapists entering their first position of employment post graduation. As part of the 12-Month contract, sucessful candidates will undertake a diverse rotation through planning and treatment with a tailored program to support their entry into the profession. Incumbents will be responsible for performing routine radiation treatment planning and treatment delivery and have the opportunity to experience specialty areas and the regional services at GRO. 

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Radiations or equivalent
  • National Registration with AHPRA to practice as a Medical Radiation Practitioner (Radiation Therapist)
  • General skills and knowledge base in radiation therapy practice commensurate with entry level qualifications at degree or masters level
  • Ability to manage allocated workload efficiently and effectively and within acceptable timeframes, at times with some senior assistance for more complex planning, treatment or problem solving situations relative to experience
  • Awareness of quality and safety issues
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
  • Interpersonal and communication skills enabling effective participation in a team and multidisciplinary environment

The Graduate RT position is open to applicants entering the first Radiation Therapy role post qualification. All applicants should submit:

    • 2 clinical referees; each referee should be contactable and able to reply via email. Both email addresses and phone numbers are sought
    • AHPRA registration & Victorian Department of Health Radiation Use Licence required upon commencement
