Alfred Health Occupational Therapy Services operates across The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals, with clinical services aligned to Alfred Health's strategic goals and operational performance targets. The Position 

This is a subacute role based at Caulfield Hospital within the home based service called Better at Home. Better at Home is a contemporary and growing inpatient bed substitution model, providing inpatient-level multi-disciplinary assessment and evidence based rehabilitation in the patients' home environment. The successful applicant for this Grade 2 Occupational Therapy position will apply their knowledge, skill and expertise to deliver excellent clinical service to a varied diagnostic group of patients after they have transitioned home.

 

At a Grade 2 level, Occupational Therapists are required to display autonomy of practice, whilst also contributing collaboratively to the multi-disciplinary team. There will also be opportunities for Grade 2 clinicians to be involved in various teaching/training and quality improvement activities across the Occupational Therapy Service, and will be responsible for the supervision and mentoring of junior Occupational Therapy staff, Allied Health Assistants and/or undergraduate students.

 

At Alfred Health, the Occupational Therapy service delivers a seven-day model of care and the incumbent in this role may be required to assist with weekend service provision on a periodic basis.

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in occupational therapy
  • Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, and eligibility for OTA membership
  • Clinical experience and knowledge of client-centred, occupational service delivery in a subacute setting
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and modify service delivery in accordance with evidence-based practice
  • Experience working within an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality rehabilitation
  • Experience in supervision of junior staff and students is highly desirable
