Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

Department
The Planning and Partnerships team is responsible for organisation-wide Health Service Planning; they also are involved in developing service initiatives and projects across Alfred Health.The Planning and Partnerships team leads the development and delivery of service plans to enable the organisation to meet its strategic priorities and objectives and also responsible for establishing regional partnerships and building clinical networks to ensure service sustainability and growth aligned with government priorities.
About the Role
The Health Service Planner is responsible for coordinating strategic, capital and planning projects across Alfred Health. This important role will support the organisation to deliver on its strategic objectives through the delivery of key organisational projects. This role will work across the organisation’s teams/functions in an internal consultant, and as such, be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with clinical and non-clinical teams to support the development and delivery of such projects.
This position will work closely with the Manager, Health Service Planning and the Director, Planning and Partnerships, as well as the broader Planning and Partnerships, and Strategy and Planning team.
Duties
- Develop project plans, briefs and reports
- Establish and gain agreement on targets, deliverables, timeframes and desired outcomes within projects and programs of work
- Work with the Manager, Health Service Planning to undertake policy analysis and horizon scanning across the organisation
- Proactively identify and lead relationships with key stakeholders in the program and broader organisation, and work collaboratively to achieve goals
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Manager, Health Service Planning.
Experience and Qualifications required
Essential
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification
- A strong background in the health care environment
- Experience managing strategic, improvement, project management and/or change management methodologies
- Experience working with diverse stakeholder and collaborating with people from different levels and roles
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously and in a self-directed manner and collaboratively in teams.
Desirable
- Strong written skills and report writing experience.
