Department

The Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health & Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS) at Alfred Health is a community-based service that provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and case management to infants, children, adolescents and young people up to the age of 25 years of age presenting with behavioural, emotional, psychiatric or developmental difficulties.

The Neurodevelopmental stream works with children and young people from 3 – 26 years old and it incorporates the neuropsychiatry clinic, the Developmental Assessment and Management Program (DAMP) and Mental Health & Intellectual Disability Initiative for youth (MHIDI-Y). This position sits within the Developmental Assessment and Management Program (DAMP), which is part of the Neurodevelopmental Stream.

Position Summary

This position sits within the Developmental Assessment and Management Program (DAMP), which is part of the Neurodevelopmental Stream.

The incumbent will work with the multi-disciplinary team to contribute to the developmental assessment, subsequent formulation and provide case management and therapeutic support to the child/young person, from a family inclusive approach.

Days of work: Monday & Tuesday (essential), third day is negotiable.

Experience and qualifications required

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology [Essential]
  • Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia [Essential]
  • Clinical paediatric experience with parents and young children presenting with social, emotional, learning and behavioural problems
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and student education

Essential

  • Approved tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline and eligibility for membership with the appropriate professional body

Speech

  • Registration with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Skills and experience as evidenced by 2 or more years post qualifying experience within Mental Health Services, paediatric/adolescent experience, and MH experience would be desirable and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
