The Department

The School of Translational Medicine (STM) is the FMNHS’s leading school for biomedical and clinical research and education, offering undergraduate and postgraduate study programs. STM is primarily located at the Alfred Hospital Precinct, with sites at Peninsula Health, and Cabrini Hospital.

The Role

This position will contribute to the goals of the Sivathamboo Research Group, based within the Department of Neuroscience, School of Translational Medicine. The appointee will support the delivery of a CURE-funded SUDEP research program investigating autonomic, cardiac, sleep and respiratory biomarkers of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), with a focus on analysis of multimodal physiological and clinical data from SUDEP cases and matched living epilepsy controls.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• A Postgraduate Degree in Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in epilepsy research.  
• Previous experience in understanding of the principles and methods of research
• Capacity to participate in patient centred research approaches

Desirable

• Strong commitment to research in neurology, epilepsy and SUDEP.

Key Capabilities

• Coordinate day-to-day management of the CURE-funded SUDEP research program.
• Prepare ethics and governance submissions and amendments in a timely manner.
• Review medical records and extract relevant clinical and demographic data
