Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

Department

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

About the role

The newly integrated Adult and Older Adult Service combines AMAH Adult Community Mental Health and Caulfield Aged and Liaison Psychiatry Services to provide comprehensive, person-centred support for adults and older adults. We offer a wide range of therapeutic, addiction, trauma-informed, and family violence services.

In line with the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health recommendations and the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, we are expanding our services to provide specialized expertise and broad-spectrum care, including pathways for substance use, rehabilitation, recovery, and trauma-focused care.

Our approach focuses on integrated treatment, education, peer support, care planning, and navigation, supporting individuals at every stage of their recovery journey.

You’ll have the opportunity to work in areas such as:

  • Navigations and Continuing Care: Brief Intervention, Access and Intake, CMHT, Physical Health, and Family Services
  • Adult Rehabilitation and Recovery: MSTS, CCU, PARC, HOPS, and SECU
  • Aged/Older Adult Mental Health: MAPS, Caulfield Hospital Community Liaison, and inpatient units
  • Wellbeing and Therapeutic Services: Psychological Trauma and Capacity Building initiatives

What you’ll be doing

You will join a team of 4 other Senior Clinicians and a Senior Mental Health Support Worker who work together to provide the AMAH Adult service with a single point of entry for consumers between the age of 25 – 65.

You will be assessing referrals and will assist with short-term support, consultations and liaison with the community. Your team is responsible for providing face to face one off assessments as well as secondary consultation and education to primary health providers. The team assists with internal referrals and the movement of consumers throughout the community program.

About you

  • Approved tertiary qualifications and registration with either the Nurses and Midwives Board or Occupational Therapy Board via AHPRA; or eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Significant full-time clinical experience and post graduate qualifications desirable, including demonstrated interest in continual learning opportunities.
  • Substantial experience in a mental health-based context, preferably in community settings.
  • Mandatory: – Current Victorian Driver License 
  • Previous work within an acute community mental health setting, and Drug and alcohol experience is highly regarded
  • Australian working rights and current Influenza vaccination
