The Department
The Malignant Haematology and Stem Cell Transplantation Service and the Haemostasis / Thrombosis Unit, and the Haemophilia Centre, support haematology patients from the greater Melbourne area, and adult haemophilia patients from all of Victoria. The Clinical Research Unit (“CRU”) oversees a range of clinical trials for these diverse patient groups from Phase 1, first-in-human to Phase 3 randomised, controlled trials, testing newly developed drugs straight from the biotech companies, to established drugs used in new regimens. A Collaborative Group called the Australasian Myeloma Research Consortium (AMaRC) is run from our unit. AMaRC promotes, facilitates and sponsors Investigator-initiated trials and collaborative laboratory research projects in myeloma, acting as Trial Centre supporting the participating sites in Australasia.
The Role
The Clinical Research Ethics Coordinator is responsible for the preparation of documents for submission to the Ethics Committees and Research Governance Office. This can include administration tasks for initial clinical trial start-up or for ongoing clinical trial amendments.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Appropriate tertiary qualification and/or demonstrated relevant equivalent professional experience in a clinical research environment
- High-level administration and multi-tasking skills
- Hands-on experience preparing, reviewing, and submitting regulatory documentation to Ethics Committees and Regulatory Agencies; including formulating responses to queries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive approach to role with ability and willingness to learn and be challenged
