The Department

Alfred Pharmacy is well recognised for high quality and innovative patient- focused services, education and training programmes as well as significant research output. The service operates over 4 sites within the Alfred Care Group, and continually advocates for postgraduate learning and research interests, with supportive partnerships and expert mentors available to foster staff development.   

This role sits within a high-performing team that partners closely with clinical and operational stakeholders to deliver safe, effective, and sustainable medication supply across multiple hospital sites. With a strong emphasis on innovation, digital integration, and data-driven decision-making, the team plays a critical role in supporting organisational priorities and improving patient outcomes. 

 

The Role

We are seeking a highly capable and strategic individual to join our Pharmacy Department as Lead - Pharmacy Business and Procurement Strategy. This senior role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to shape and lead pharmaceutical procurement strategy within a complex and dynamic health service environment. 

This position is ideally suited to an individual with strong expertise in procurement, financial management, and stakeholder engagement, with experience in healthcare or a similarly regulated sector. 

 

You will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of a long-term, coordinated medication procurement and supply strategy aligned with organisational priorities
  • Oversee pharmaceutical procurement, supplier relationships, and contract performance to ensure high-quality, value-driven outcomes
  • Drive financial performance through expenditure management, cost optimisation initiatives, and procurement efficiencies
  • Provide data-driven insights, analysis, and reporting to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to improve supply processes and outcomes 

 

To succeed in this role, you will: 

  • Have demonstrated experience in strategic procurement, supply chain management, or business strategy within healthcare or a similarly complex environment 
  • Possess strong commercial acumen, with proven ability to manage budgets, analyse financial performance, and deliver value through procurement
  • Demonstrate highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, building effective relationships internally and externally
  • Have strong analytical capability and experience using data to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement
  • Be an effective communicator, able to influence and translate strategy into action across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Show initiative, adaptability, and leadership within dynamic environments
  • Maintain a strong commitment to patient-centred care and high-quality outcomes
