The Department
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is an integral part of Alfred Health, providing a high level of care to the critically ill patients. The unit operates across 3 floors and is a state of the art 68 bedded unit employing over 600 nursing, medical and ancillary staff. It is a university attached quaternary referral centre providing State Services for heart and lung transplantation (including paediatric lung transplantation), artificial heart technology, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), trauma, burns and hyperbaric medicine. It also provides Victoria’s adult Cystic Fibrosis and Pulmonary hypertensive services.
Position Summary
This role will be essential in providing the ICU workforce management team support to ensure the large nursing workforce administrative duties are carried out. A large workforce requires administrative duties to be carried out in a timely efficient manner to ensure the administrative tasks are met for the nursing workforce.
The role will provide support to the nursing staff by assisting them with their rostering enquiries in a timely and transparent approach, whilst assisting with general administrative duties within the ICU as required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide effective, efficient and timely administrative support to the ICU nursing workforce management team
- Support may include, but not limited to, kronos approvals, actioning shift swaps for nurses, annual leave processing, clerical duties associated with workforce, generating allocation pages in a set time frame
- Coordination of administrative duties required for newly employed nurses
- Participation in continuous improvement initiative within the Intensive Care and Hyperbaric Unit.
- Attend to correspondence regarding workforce, rostering matters and actioning workforce requests
- Working closely with the Roster ANM to facilitate adequate staffing on each shift with a balance of skill mix
- Collaborate with all key stakeholders on a frequent basis to ensure common goals are met
- Maintain clear communication strategies with all key stakeholders within the ICU workforce management team
