  • Permanent, Part-time (0.8EFT / 64 hours)
  • Based at The Alfred's Adult Inpatient Unit

  • Shifts will be allocated on a roster system, and as such you may be required to work weekends.

About us

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.

What you’ll be doing

The Senior Consumer Peer worker role is responsible for the guidance of consumer peer workers on the IPU and integrating strong processes that support consumer perspective recovery.

This position will be required to provide 28-day post discharge support to consumers for 40% of their time. 

An important part of this role is to highlight peer work specific functions and their importance and benefits across the IPU multidiscipline teams.

About you

  • Lived experience of your own mental challenges and a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery
  • Substantial experience in, and understanding of the challenges of mental health peer work
  • Demonstrated experience in providing peer support or supporting others using their own lived experience
  • Formal qualifications are not mandatory for this role but may be helpful (Certificate IV in Peer Work, Cert IV in Mental Health AOD, Intentional Peer Support training, Peer Supervision Training)
  • Australian working rights
  • 2025 Influenza vaccination
  • Current Victorian Driver's License
  • Be willing to undergo a Background Check
