The Department

Alfred Health’s Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated nutrition and dietetic service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. This position is based at Caulfield Hospital. The joint Dietetics and Nutrition Department is comprised of approximately 46EFT and 65 staff members. It is organised into 7 clinical streams and provides a 7-day service. Using evidence-based, patient-centred care it provides clinical expertise to Alfred Health’s patients during their healthcare journey, including the prevention and treatment of malnutrition and the optimisation of nutritional wellbeing and recovery through tailored, specialised nutrition therapy.

The Role

Alfred Health’s Dietetics and Nutrition Department is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and skilled Grade 2 Dietitian to join a busy clinical department located at Caulfield Hospital. The Grade 2 Dietitian is responsible for the ongoing provision and development of nutrition and dietetic services to a range of clinical areas, including Rehabilitation units. The Grade 2 Dietitian works collaborately with members of the Dietetics and Nutrition Department and the multidisciplinary team, including medical, nursing, other Allied Health and food service staff, to advance patient centred-care and optimise nutritional wellbeing and recovery. Student education, supervision of Grade 1 Dietitians and Nutrition Assistants and active participation in quality and/or research activities are integral to this role.

Skills

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in the assessment and nutritional management of patients, encompassing provision of enteral and oral nutrition support.

  • Excellent communication skills, proficiency in nutrition education and basic computer skills.

  • Experience in student supervision.

  • Understanding of quality improvement and service development.

  • Eligibility for membership of Dietitians' Australia and APD credentialing.

  • Minimum of three years clinical experience.
