About the Role:

Alfred Health's Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Rehabilitation Centre provides specialist statewide ABI rehabilitation services for people with moderate to severe acquired brain injuries including traumatic brain injuries, stroke, hypoxic brain injuries and other causes of non-progressive brain injury. The service is comprised of a 36-bed inpatient rehabilitation service, a community rehabilitation service and a 4-bed transitional living service (TLS).

The Senior Psychologist in the ABI rehabilitation service will:

  • Undertake clinical work which is diverse, interesting and often complex. Frequent presenting issues include mood and anxiety disorders; grief and adjustment; pre-morbid psychiatric disorders; emotional distress; behavioural change, and relationship issues. 
  • Deliver high-quality psychological assessment and intervention services to individuals with ABI and their families.
  • Demonstrate a capacity to collaborate effectively within the interdisciplinary clinical team and with patients and their families.
  • Provide high level clinical supervision for psychology staff.
  • Provide leadership by actively facilitating and contributing to research and quality improvement activities for the
  • Psychology Department and ABI Service.

About You:

  • You’re an experienced Clinical Psychologist with a passion for the role of psychology in supporting patients following ABI.
  • You’re an experienced leader who is energised by supporting and inspiring psychologists in their practice.
  • You’re reflective, committed to ongoing learning, and passionate about embedding research in day to day practice.
  • You have strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
