Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

This role is that of a Fellow within a specialist unit.

 

This role has the key responsibility for managing and co-ordinating clinical trial activities in the Haematology Clinical Research Unit. The Fellow will work closely with the Head of Thrombosis & Haemostasis research, other consultants, clinical trial coordinators and other fellows on the unit. The Fellow will assist in supervising junior medical staff and managing their duties. The placement is designed to provide appropriate exposure and experience to enable the doctor to attain new skills and knowledge to augment their career in that discipline. This includes working progressively towards being able to work more independently as experience grows.

 

The successful applicant will be based within the Division of Blood Cancers, Australian Centre for Blood Diseases and the Haematology Clinical Research Unit based at the Alfred Hospital. The appointment would in the first instance be for 12 months with the opportunity to extend this to a maximum of 2 years depending on performance and commitment.

The Alfred Hospital is a large tertiary referral centre with an extensive malignant and non-malignant haematology service including allogeneic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies, the clinical research unit, statewide haemophilia service and research collaboration with Monash University through the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases.
